The "Yellow" School

Rating

Nicknamed “the yellow”, because of its characteristic color, it is in fact the first Bulgarian high school in the city of Plovdiv. And the only old public building, that is still used today as originally intended. The “Yellow” school was founded in 1868, based on a diocesan school "St. Cyril and Methodius", with the permission of Sultan Abdul Azis. Built by the famous master-builder from Bratsigovo - Todor Damov, today it houses the “Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts”, but unfortunately the school is in pretty rough shape. On the eastern corner of the streets "Tsar Ivailo" and "Todor Samodumov" you can see original inscriptions in Bulgarian and Ottoman Turkish.
