‘Vazrazhdane’ Theatre Municipal Cultural Institute (Obshtinski Kulturen Institut Teatar ‘Vazrazhdane’) has been housed since 1994 in the building of the Capital’s Library (Stolichna Biblioteka) on 4 Slaveykov square. It is a chamber theatre, equipped with 100 seats. The theatre company includes a creative and administrative-technical staff of 21 people in total. The ‘Vazrazhdane’ Theatre stage prioritises the staging of plays by Bulgarian and European contemporary and classical playwrights. The repertoire policy sustains and develops the traditions of dramaturgy of national and international importance. ‘Vazrazhdane’ Theatre is one of the few capital’s theatres where performances for children are staged with great success. The realization of the shows is brought about by first-class creative teams – directors, actors, scenographers from all generations – both the masters and the students of the Kr. Sarafov NATFA (Krastyo Sarafov National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts) and the Lyuben Grois Theatre College. This continuity is part of the tradition of this theatre.
