Racho Stoyanov Dramatic Theatre – Gabrovo was founded in 1945. It is financed by the Ministry of Culture and Gabrovo Municipality. Since its establishment it has been a repertory theatre. It stages plays targeted at a wide spectre of audience – at children, youth and adults.

 

In the recent years, the theatre has been developing serious international activity. It holds two festivals – International Festival of the Comedy Performance (every odd year) and BGMOT – an international festival of monologues, which is part of the UNESCO (ITI) chain (every even year). The jury of the later usually consists of one representative of Bulgaria and two from abroad.

 

The theatre cooperates with institutions from different countries on international programs.
