Kamchiya Reserve is located along the lower course of the Kamchiya River, 25 kilometres south of Varna near the Kamchiya and Shkorpilovtsi resorts.

 

The aim of the reserve is to preserve the natural form of the riparian forest where one can see over 245 species of plants. Many of the trees are over 150 years old and over 35 metres tall. The reserve area is one of the biggest summer snowflake habitats in Bulgaria. The river is also home to lilies and other moist loving plants. The reserve maintains a huge diversity of birds, mammals and fish. Some of the birds are rarely seen such as the black stork, the lesser spotted eagle and the Eurasian hobby.
