In 1879 Vida Charity Theatre Association was established in Vidin. The first performances took place in the so called ‘People’s cafe’ in the Bolyarska mahala neighbourhood. Vida Theatre was built in 1891. That’s the country’s first building built specially for theatre purposes. It’s equipped with a vast auditorium, lobby, ground floor, boxes and galleries, big stage, orchestra stage and a glass roof.
