The building was built in 1895 as an officers’ club. From 1905 to 1923 it functioned as “People’s Home” equipped with a workers’ theatre, brass band, orchestra and an evening school.
In 1951 the building was offered to house a Museum of the History of Capitalism, Workers’ Movement and Socialist Construction. Today it houses a Museum Centre for Contemporary History with a modernly equipped hall which offers the opportunity for presenting art and photography exhibitions, presentations, seminars and other public events.
