The Palace Architectural Park Complex – Balchik
Part of the complex, the Botanical Garden is one of the most visited attractions in Balchik. It is owned by the St. Kliment Ohridski Sofia University. The garden itself is really diverse. There are small waterfalls, lakes and benches in it which makes it an ideal place to spend the day in nature.
The big cactuses, hanging above the people, are also quite an attraction. It is also worth visiting the palace to experience something indescribable. The Palace is also known as Romanian queen Marie of Edinburgh’s residence. At the beginning of 20 century, after the region was occupied by Romania, the palace entered the borders of Bulgaria’s northern neighbour. In 1948 however it was returned to Bulgaria. The palace demonstrates remarkable architecture into which Proto-Bulgarian, oriental, Gothic and other elements are blended together.
