The QuesTour Project Promotes Cultural and Historical Routes and Resources in Bulgaria and Serbia
The achievements of the initiative were presented during the final conference of the project, which took place on July 5, 2021, organized by the Municipality of Vratsa, which is a partner in this initiative. The event was attended by 10 representatives of the Bulgarian side - local authorities, public organizations, youth and tourism organizations, as well as the Serbian project partner - ENECA - Association of Economic Experts (Serbia). The leading partner - National Tourist Cluster "Bulgarian Guide", presented the achievements of the project, among which are the mapping of unexplored cultural and historical resources, the so-called Generator of Business Models. The partners also presented the pilot QuesTour initiatives - the thematic adventure tours, as well as the QuesTour festival (02-04.07.2021).
QuesTour started in April 2020 and despite the pandemic situation due to COVID-19, in which it is implemented, managed to increase the importance of several unknown tourist routes and resources in the cross-border region Bulgaria-Serbia. Among the successes of the project are the increased activity of the community and the sustainable use of transboundary natural, cultural, and historical resources.
Special attention was paid to the QuesTour Business Model Generator developed within the project. It analyzes unexplored cultural, natural, and historical sites in the cross-border region of Bulgaria and Serbia and identifies business models for the development of a sustainable tourism product.
Thanks to the initiative, a special QuesTour Platform was created - https://questour-project.eu/, it became clear at the forum. The Platform contains separate sections for searching for tours, trainings, analyzes and services. The little-known and less studied natural, cultural, and historical landmarks mapped within the project can also be found in it. Access to the resources of the platform is also supported by the created QuesTour Mobile Application. Special attention was paid to the adventure tours developed for the purposes of the project, the information about which is also part of the content of the platform. The three thematic tours on both sides of the border showed the participants unexplored and less popular but valuable places in the cross-border region. Thanks to them, the opportunities for sustainable use of specific tourist resources have been increased. The tours were organized based on the cultural heritage, natural resources, traditions, and crafts of the region.
The QuesTour project aims at increasing the value of unexplored cultural and historical routes and resources for tourism in the cross-border region Bulgaria-Serbia, improving the tourist sites and promoting the sustainable tourism.
