A Seminar "Ecological Footprint and Sustainable Development: Tools and certifications of SMEs in Tourism" will be held in Sofia on 22 and 23 November 2024. The event will bring together experts and representatives of tourism enterprises involved in sustainable development in tourism.


Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the latest tools for measuring and improving environmental performance, certification requirements and the benefits of a sustainable approach for business.

  • StarGrowth project - "Sustainable Tools & Activities for Rural tourism and ecotourism SME’s Growth"
  • Context and benefits of Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) and Environmental Impact Assessment (OEF) initiatives.
  • Tools to measure, improve and communicate environmental performance of SMEs.
  • Sustainability and environmental certification - steps and requirements (EU Ecolabel, EMAS, ISO 14001, etc.).

 

23 November 2024

  • Leading global sustainability and environmental certifications for tourism businesses.
  • Energy efficiency and energy certification.
  • Green certification for hospitality and tourism in Bulgaria.
  • IT tools to support certification and sustainability performance monitoring.

 

 

The workshop provides a platform for sharing of experiences and best practices that can assist SMEs in their sustainability efforts.

 

Venue: The event will be held in person - Sofia, Fabrika 126, conference room. Registration is a must!

The seminar is part of the activities implemented by National Tourism Cluster "Bulgarian Guide" within the StarGrowth project, "Sustainable Tools & Activities for Rural tourism and ecotourism SME’s Growth", SMP-COSME-2021-TOURSME, funded by the EU Single Market Programme 2021-2027. Launched in January 2023, the project aims to enhance the sustainable growth of SMEs in tourism in Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Romania and Italy by providing them technical and financial support, while increasing their awareness, development and capacity in sustainable innovation.
