"Stage at a Crossroad" held in September, was first launched as an annual event. This year’s festival begins at Thursday, September 10 and will last about 12 days till September 23. In time, the event  naturally transformed into the Autumn Theatre Festival. The programme usually includes 20 to 25 theatrical events and about 8 side meetings - round tables, seminars, conferences, book premieres, creative art meetings, and themed exhibitions.

Throughout the years, during the festival Plovdiv has staged over 350 theatrical performances. Years back, the Ancient theatre had staged some of them as well, while now they’re all carried out in the halls of the Drama Theatre. The approval, validation and development of the festival are mainly due to the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Plovdiv but most of all - to the dedicated and long-standing sponsors.The International Autumn Theatre Festival "Stage at a Crossroad" ranks among the most significant cultural events in Bulgaria.
